Ali Yost Update:

Ali finished the marathon in a finish time of 3:49:01.  She placed 8,249 out of 31,659 (top 26%) and was the 1,012th female finishers out of 8,394 (top 12%).

As you might have heard, I am training for my first marathon with Team In Training - an endurance sports training program that raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I am really excited to run the London marathon on April 18th and would love your support for this terrific organization.

While the idea to actually run a marathon was inspired in part by my sister and my dad, I was motivated to join Team In Training in order to dedicate my energy to building hope for those suffering or living with cancer.

The mission of the Society is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Over the years, Team In Training has raised more than $430 million to support the Society's six primary initiatives: research, patient aid, public and professional education, advocacy and community service. My personal goal is to raise $4,500 for the Society before the marathon on April 18th.

I know that you must have received requests for donations like this in the past, likely due to how much need there is in the world. But let me assure you that this is an organization that is succeeding in the battle against these difficult cancers. While the cause of leukemia remains unknown, the effectiveness of recently developed methods and advances in research bring us closer every day to finding a cure. While Team In Training typically donates a quarter of the money it raises to support the running event itself, I want you to know that 100% of the money I raise will go directly to the cause. Any contribution that you might give towards the Society would really make a difference.

Thank you in advance for your support-past and present. I'll let you know about the results of my ongoing fundraising and "winning time" in the marathon on April 18th.
